A book discussion paired with whiskey.
In December, Bourbon Book Club attendees will discuss Jacqueline Susann’s 1966 novel, Valley of the Dolls. Dolls: red or black; capsules or tablets; washed down with vodka or swallowed straight—for Anne, Neely, and Jennifer it doesn’t matter, as long as the pill bottle is within easy reach. These three women become best friends when they are young and struggling in NYC, and then climb to the top of the entertainment industry—only to find that there is no place left to go but down, into the Valley of the Dolls.
The Book Club discussion will be complemented by a bourbon (or vodka) selected and provided by The Whiskey Attic. Attendees are expected to have read the book in advance.
Copies of the 50th Anniversary edition of Valley of the Dolls can be purchased in paperback at The Writer’s Block Book Shop.
