A READING AND BOOK SIGNING WITH MAGGIE MITCHELL, AUTHOR OF PRETTY IS
Maggie Mitchell’s debut novel, Pretty Is, is a taught psychological rendering of two young women, Lois and Carly May, forced to face what happened the summer they were kidnapped, driven across the country and held in a cabin in the woods for two months by an inscrutable but charismatic stranger. Years after their abduction, the sudden appearance of a movie script with a shockingly familiar plotline resurrects the ties that bind them, bringing them together to face unresolved fissures of that preadolescent summer—and the ways in which the mysteries of that summer have dictated the women they’ve become.
Maggie Mitchell has published short fiction in a number of literary magazines, including the New Ohio Review, American Literary Review and Green Mountains Review. Originally from upstate New York, she now lives in Georgia. Pretty Is is her first novel.
