A BOOK CLUB DEDICATED TO WORLD LITERATURE
From Peru to China, Nigeria to Hungary, some of the world’s greatest writers are at work overseas. In this bi-monthly book club, readers will explore these literary talents from around the world, discussing their books and the places they come from.
In July, World Book Club attendees will be discussing Mexican author Yuri Herrera’s novel Signs Preceding the End of the World. Widely considered one of the greatest contemporary Mexican novels, this book follows Makina, a young woman who must risk crossing the Mexican-American border to bring a letter to her brother.
An hour-long discussion will be accompanied by light snacks and refreshments. Attendees are expected to have read the book in advance. Copies of Signs Preceding the End of the World can be purchased in paperback at The Writer’s Block Book Shop. Registration is not required.
