A BOOK DISCUSSION PAIRED WITH WHISKEY
In September, Bourbon Book Club attendees will discuss the The Golden Notebook by Doris Lessing. Lessing, who was awarded the 2007 Nobel Prize in Literature, wrote this novel 1962. It tells the story of Anna, a successful writer attempting to weave together the contents of four notebooks—each documenting a different strand of her inner life—into a single, unifying notebook: the golden notebook. Frequently cited as a landmark feminist and anti-war text, it is Lessing’s best-known and most-loved book.
The Book Club discussion will be complemented by a bourbon selected and provided by The Whiskey Attic. Attendees are expected to have read the book in advance.
Copies of The Golden Notebook can be purchased in paperback at The Writer’s Block Book Shop. No registration for the Club is required.
