The Writer’s Block is scheduled to reopen early this spring, after a few unforeseen (but unsurprising) delays.

In the meantime, join us on January 31st at 1020 Fremont for our our absolutely, truly, for-real final event in our original location. (We’re serious; we’re handing in the keys.) The brilliant and hilarious Elizabeth McCracken will be joined in conversation with BMI PhD Fellow Wendy Wimmer, in support of her brand-new novel, Bowlaway.

Stay tuned for updates on this page, via our newsletter, and through our various social media channels.

We’re moving!

In preparation for our upcoming relocation and expansion, we will be closing on Sunday, September 30th.

We’re delighted to announce that The Writer’s Block will be moving to a brand-new location at the corner of 6th and Bonneville Streets. With expanded space, more books, and the addition of a coffee shop, we will continue to offer events, book clubs, and free K–12 creative-writing workshops in downtown Vegas. The new Writer’s Block will also serve as the retail headquarters of The Believer magazine, published in Las Vegas by the Beverly Rogers, Carol C. Harter Black Mountain Institute.

Our storefront will be the anchor for The Lucy, a multi-use creative residency devised by local philanthropist and patron of the arts Beverly Rogers. A three-story complex featuring twelve residential units, The Lucy will welcome visiting literary fellows from Black Mountain Institute at UNLV and will headquarter the Rogers Art Loft, an artist-in-residence program curated by The Rogers Foundation in tandem with Patrick Duffy, President/CEO of Nevada School of the Arts.
