FROM 6-7:30

For Six Students, Ages 12-14

Our world is a place where image meets text—so why not use this real-world method for personal expression? In this workshop, students will work with images taken from popular culture and mass media in order to assemble a collage of personal and/or narrative meaning. Students can integrate handwritten text and printed collaged text to convey a vignette or prose poem. Topics covered will include structuring the prose poem or short short (flash) fiction and the integration of images. Half of the workshop will be spent cutting and pasting and the other half writing a short short story to accompany the collage. By the end of the workshop, students will have several assembled story-collages to share with others.

This workshop is free of charge. (Six students will be selected by lottery on June 29th.)
